What happens in the workshop?

Emma will walk you through a way of constructing a drawing from scratch using pencil, fineliners and watercolour. You will finish the class with a unique drawing of an animal or botanical inspired artwork. While Emma will take you through a process, you are free to choose what you’d like to draw and create a work as you please, at your own pace.

This is a relaxed class that will give you an opportunity to have a go at learning a new process, or try working with some different materials. No experience is necessary - this is very beginner friendly - Up to 15 participants per session.

Tell me about the flowers!

The space will be decked out with some fresh farm grown native and wild flowers (that Emma picks at the farm the day before) for you to draw on its own or in a bunch. The flowers come from Bob's Garden (home to Peninsula Wildflower, where I works as a farmer-florist) which is a private, 30+ year old garden that always has something in bloom. The flowers we have to draw may vary a little month-to-month depending on what is growing in the garden, but typically it is an EPIC protea season, and a few banksia are around. (Winter is a real good time for the native and protea flowers). You may purchase the flowers at the end of the class if you wish. Typically i also bring things like banksia seed pods, foliage (eucalyptus, manuka, hakea), filler flowers like wax flower, leucadendron, gum nuts, grevillea, hakea and sometimes paper daisies.

Do I need to bring anything?

Nope! Just yourself! If you have your own watercolour set/brushes or an image/flower you want to try draw, you are welcome to bring it along, but I will provide everything!

Is there food?

Heck yes. We will provide afternoon tea (catered by HomeGround ) and drinks to keep you going, which generally includes a mix of point sandwiches, frittata, sausage rolls, fruit platter and sweet treats (mini muffins/slices/cakes). It is a help-yourself to whatever you'd like situation, (with some Prosecco), or I can make you a cuppa and/or batch brew coffee. (I usually keep some soft drinks in the fridge too, just in case!)

We generally always prepare to have vegan and gluten free options available, but please let us know if you have any requests, requirements or allergies upon booking and we will arrange something for you or double check it for you! (You can write it in the ‘notes’ section at checkout or email hello@emmamorgan.com.au)

How to get here, local recs & accomodation for interstate/far away people:

Firstly, thank you for wanting to make the journey to do a workshop!!

Here’s some great local resources to peruse if you’re looking for accommodation, places to eat/drink or things to do:

- My workshop (and studio) is in Mornington, 3931. It’s about 60km from Melbourne, and definitely drivable (allow 1.5 hours to get here!).

- From Melbourne, you can take a train via the Frankston line, all the way to Frankston, and then catch a bus (784) to Mornington Tyabb Road, or taxi/uber to Mornington from there.

- Do note, it's A LOT easier to get around here if you have a car. There are buses that go up and down the Peninsula (from Frankston -- Portsea and back), but theres no public transport into the hinterlands of the region if you want to do more exploring.
