Frequently Asked Questions About Commissions (2025)
Emma are you still taking commissions?
The short answer is yes, but the longer answer is - its on a case by case basis, and will depend on my capacity and your timeline.
That said, I am still absolutely happy to chat to you about your ideas and requests and if we can make it work, or you aren't in a massive rush, then i am happy to work on something for you! You can get in touch with the studio here; hello@emmamorgan.com.au to discuss further.
Can you paint my wedding bouquet/pet/an idea i have?
Totally. BUT, as of January 2025, i'm not allowing bookings to be done through the website so that i can better manage my schedule for them; if you're interested in commissioning me, please email me at hello@emmamorgan.com.au and we'll go from there!
How much do commissions cost?
My irritating and unhelpful answer is, it depends what you want.
My more practical answer is, here are some starting prices:
- Little A5 pet drawings (my most beloved gift sizes) (& with images that you supply) start at $200 (+ GST) and i can do them up to A1 size (if you love your dog and want a giant painting of him, i am totally down). Also, any pet is cool - i can draw your horse, your lizard, your dolphin; if you have photos, i can make it into a painting!
Anything floral will generally be between $750 - $1,000 (+ GST) for A3 size (i don't generally do them smaller, but i can upon request!), and i can source paper up to A0+ size if you want something huge. The more detailed and large, the bigger the price tag. Floral works require a lot more time and brain power, they are my absolute signature pieces - and as i can't always imitate a photo, i have to do some composing too, and i always want to do my best work for you.
Please also think about framing costs when booking a commission; a good rule of thumb, is to allow the framing cost to be roughly a quarter of the price of the artwork (and if its less thats amazing, obviously, but just so you're prepared)... but it also depends on what you want - we frame in Tasmanian oak (raw, or coated white/black) and recommend a conservation appropriate frame like matt boards or floats. (You can read about these in my 'custom framing' tab!). You are also welcome to purchase commissions unframed and take it to your own framer!! But i am happy to quote a frame for you at any point, and you can say yay or nay.
What materials do you use and what is the process for a commission?
I primarily work with watercolour; so i work on 300GSM french cotton rag paper (which i hand cut and stretch for painting) and i use the very best professional grade watercolours.
The process for all commission jobs is, its very helpful to me if you give me the following details:
- Your required size (A5, A4, A3, A2, A1 - or something custom, like 45x45cm etc) (or if you need help deciding a size etc)
- Whether you want colour, or black and white or (For floral more than pets) specifically which colours you like (you can even tell me which of my artworks you like, because i'll be able to see which colours i can use from there!)
- Your vision for your artwork; is it to be bold and busy? Soft and quiet? Does it have a background colour? Is there another work of mine that inspired your vision? Any specific details to note, please say so, no matter how minor - its helpful for me to understand what you're looking for in your piece
- Any timelines/dates you need it for (i will do my best, but i may have to decline if i can't accomodate a timeline!!)
- whether you'd like framing (or a quote)

Put it all in an email to hello@emmamorgan.com.au and i'll come back to you with a quote!
Will you do logos/commercial jobs?
Yes, if we're aligned, i'd love to help you out. Please send me a request to hello@emmamorgan.com.au to discuss.
How much does shipping my artwork cost?
Shipping is included in the price for all artwork within Australia.
I will quote a shipping fee for anywhere abroad, but usually it is just the flat rate of $25AUD fee for all orders (i don't recommend framing for international customer, just as its risky!!)
Can i split payment for my commission or Afterpay etc?
Absolutely! We can work it out and im pretty flexible with payment options and plans.
Do (or can) you make prints of my commission?
I NEVER MAKE PRINTS OF CLIENT WORK TO SELL MYSELF - Your artwork is yours, it is unique and one off, and thats how it will stay. Conversely, it cannot be reproduced for sale or use by you unless we've discussed this prior (which will incur a higher fee).
However, many of my clients like to have a print or two made of their commission to give as gifts (of bouquets and of pets) and i am happy to do this. I high res scan artworks in my studio with a professional grade scanner and will print them any size you like - the print costs are the same as my other giclée prints, and i will package and sign them for you.
